A Shout Out for John C. Reilly

Usually I like to give shout out to lesser known actors, but he probably was lesser known just one short year ago. One of those actors with a recognizable face, but the name couldn't fall from the tip of the tongue. But lately with STEP BROTHERS,TALLEDAGA NIGHTS, and WALK HARD(in my opinion very underated) he has risen to show how much of an actor he is.

First off he's a Chicago guy, trained at Depaul and theatres around the area, and was plucked by Brian DePalma for CAUSALTIES OF WAR. His credits from there on include HOFFA,WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE,BOOGIE NIGHTS(rent this),THE THIN RED LINE(rent this if u like war movies),FOR LOVE OF THE GAME(rent this if u like baseball flics),MAGNOLIA(rent this),GOOD GIRL,CHICAGO(hated this, but he got oscar nom for it),THE HOURS,THE AVIATOR, GANGS OF NEW YORK(rent this, pretend cameron diaz is not in it.)PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION, and THE PROMOTION which I have not seen, but heard its funny.
Now getting his billing in starring roles he has been able to do comedy, drama, carried movies, and filled in with great supporting work. Directors he has worked with is equally impressive. Brain DePalma, Thomas Anderson, Martin Scorcese, and Robert Altman. In one blip that I read he has been called the modern day Gene Hackman. I hope they don't ever remake The French Connection, but if they ever did something like it I hope they would go to the modern day Popeye Doyle. What a great name, Popeye Doyle.

Shouting out John C. Reilly.
